Q1. As a member of CMMC am I also a member of the Foundation?
A. Yes, as stated in the By-laws.
Q2. As a Member of CMMC, what can I do to support the Foundation?
A. Assist in the programs and conferences and contribute financially.
Q3. When will the first scholarships be awarded?
A. During the year 2005.
Q4. I understand that the Foundation will support Conferences. Are there any Conferences planned at this time and supported by the Foundation?
A. The Foundation will sponsor Conferences with the partnership of the Divisions. One Conference and one Seminar were held in 2005. There will be others in the future.
Q5. What is the difference between the Foundation and the Captain G.O. Baugh Memorial Fund?
A. The Baugh Memorial Fund is restricted to providing scholarships & bursaries whereas the Foundation has a much wider scope of activity, including such things as research.
A. There will be no change to the activity of the Baugh Fund, however, it is possible that the donations will be lessened somewhat. Time will tell!
Q7. Because the Foundation is a registered charity do I get a tax receipt if I donate? What happens in the case of a bequest?
A. Yes the Foundation & the Baugh Fund are recognised "Charities" with the power to issue receipts. Bequests can also be handled by both, however, you should discuss with your lawyer beforehand. Also see the insert headed "Planned Giving".
Q8. How do I find out about the details of the Incorporation and structure of the Foundation in case my accountant or tax lawyer wants to know?
A. Each Division has a copy of the Incorporation and the "letters patent". Check with your Divisional Master.
Q9. Why is the head office in Toronto not Vancouver?
A. The Administrator & the Chair of the Education Committee are both located in Toronto, and as the Great Lakes Division was the largest contributor to the initial financial support, (Capt. Storey Fund.) it made sense.
Q10. Who is in charge of the Foundation?
A. There are 10 Directors, each Divisional Master in Canada, the Member's Moderator & the Education Committee Chair.
