Vancouver Is. Division is continuing to develop our Master Mariners of Canada – women mentoring women – marine industry career initiative for a 2019 launch. The Division is very pleased to announce Capt. Amanda Slade MM as co-chair for this exciting initiative. As a Master Mariner, a maritime lecturer and educator, Amanda encourages women and men to consider maritime careers on a daily basis.

She recently said, “I presented the STCW convention to my class today and mentioned one of the resolutions from the Manila Amendments was to encourage more women in shipping. I told my class if you have daughters or sisters, tell them to get in touch with me to hear about the opportunities in our industry”.  We have also recently had a Marine Inspector and a Harbour Master of a large BC port sign on to be a part / share the momentum of the Manila Amendments. If you are a woman looking for marine career information please feel free to contact Capt. Amanda at seawomentorship@mastermariners.ca
